fit2cook food education is delighted to welcome schools in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire to the 2018 Create & Cook Competition. Thanks to sponsorship from the Best of our Counties brand which is part of the Midcounties Co-operative, schools in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire were invited to events to launch and explain the competition to their food technology teachers.
The Gloucestershire launch was held at the inspiring Gloucester Services on the M5 which has a fantastic farm shop full of locally sourced products whilst the Oxfordshire launch was held at the award winning White Hart in Fyfield. At both launches teachers were treated to a demonstration by top local chefs - Mark Chandler at the White Hart who cooked up a cobnut shortbread with poached pears in perry and a Stinky Bishop mousse and Kuba Winkowski from the Feathered Nest who cooked a piece of Forest of Dean wild boar with seasonal beets, kale, quince and elderberries.
Both counties have a wealth of local producers to explore and we look forward to seeing the young cooks menus later in the Spring. For more details do see our new website www.createandcook.co.uk
