fit2cook part of Growing Together watercress project

Fit2cook food education has teamed up with Alresford Salads and The Watercress Company to offer local schools around Alresford a fantastic opportunity to learn about their world famous local salad vegetable.  Alresford is known as the "capital of watercress" and has been growing watercress in it's beautiful chalk streams for hundreds of years.

Through this "Growing Together" project, local children will be invited to visit a watercress farm and learn how watercress is grown in the 21st century - not that different from hundreds of years ago, apart from the equipment used for planting and harvesting.  Schools will then learn how to cook with watercress in a fun cooking workshop run by fit2cook . At the end of the project we know everyone will be eating & enjoying more locally grown watercress!  The project will run during the summer term 2017 and is a great hands on opportunity for schools to enjoy some outdoor learning.
